JCI Shakopee GM Meeting

  2. Special Guests 
    • Melissa Anderson 
      1. Thanked us for donating to her nephew’s Eagle Scout project.
    • Civah B. Daniels from the NSGRA
      1. Currently they are looking to see if we can help with beer sales during the weekend of July 24th.  They are looking for vendors for the beer to sponsor them.  They will have to pull the liquor license in Hugo.  All the Jaycee volunteers will have free admission.  We would be able to have tip buckets out and can keep the tips.  They are looking to see if they can find a chair for the project (beer sales at their rodeo).
      2. JCI Lake Elmo hasn’t been contacted yet — they are the closest chapter.
      3. Insurance costs haven’t been considered yet.
  3. Approval of Previous Minutes – 1st by Labovich 2nd by Duffy; Motion carries.
  4. Approval of the Consent Agenda – 1st by Duffy; 2nd by Labovich; Motion carries.

  1. General Business and Reports
  • Management:
    • Budget
      • About $75,000 was cut from the budget from what we had last year.
      • $35 dues per member will be comped by the chapter because of the financial burden for each individual member due to the pandemic.
      • Motion made by Arnold to approve the 2021 budget (positive recommendation made by board); 2nd by Kramer.  Motion carried.
    • Incentives Update 
      • Motion made by Arnold to approve the incentives policy (positive recommendation made by board); 2nd by Labovich.  Motion carried.
      • Verbage was changed for a few items.  Everything in red is the changes where they would like it how to be read.
        • Edit for #9 — “proof of member activities towards incentive points must be able to be shown by, and shown to, said member if requested.”
        • Need to Add #13 — records (spreadsheet and sign-in sheets) and proof of attendance must be kept for 2 years.
        • Different Edit for #9 instead of adding #13 — “Records, and proof of attendance, must be kept by the chapter for 2 years.  If a member asks to see an attendance sheet, to confirm they did or did not sign in, it must be able to be shown if requested.
        • New edits
          • #9 – “[???]”
          • #13 – “Record or proof of attendance must be kept by the chapter for 2 years and shown on request of the member.”
            • Is it under our 7 year policy?
        • Verbage happened  for the spreadsheet as well.

    • Policies and Bylaws Committee
      • Need to start a committee within this quarter. (preferably by the 2nd week of February)  They want as many people as possible.  Message management or the president if you’re interested.
    • Major Ways & Means Chairs Applications due January 31st
      • 1 person for Fest so far, but nothing for Scott County, Trail of Terror, or Big Taste of Fun.
  • Membership:
    • Q1 Renewals
      • $55 cost of dues for this year.
  • Community:
    • Spring Park/ Highway Cleaning – Dates TBA
      • There has to be a spring and fall cleaning.  No dates as of yet.
    • Pitch Hit and Run – Date TBA
      • We have been accepted for it.
    • Mental Health Partnership
      • Possibly see if there is a mental health thing in Shakopee we can park with, especially since mental health has been greatly affected by the pandemic… Scott County has one we might be able to work with.
    • Shakopee Parks and Rec Fitness Bingo
      • At the community center they are running a fitness bingo.  They are putting it to the chapter this weekend.  If you do a bingo/blackout on the sheet you can win prizes.
  • Individual Development:
    • Giant
      • It’s a new program at the state level.   Giant.tv  80 question assessment test… gives you a personality type profile.  It gives you a video library that is 100% catered to you.
      • You can learn insights about yourself, including how you deal with other people.
    • Lab Night
      • Social Media 101 — February 4th
      • They will be talking about different platforms & how you can grow and present yourself.
      • There is a Facebook event for this.
  • Public Relations:
    • February Pet Posts
      • Humane Societies have been reached out to.  We are going to do a “mancandy” Monday and a “womancandy” Wednesday.  Every week in February we will be posting furbabies “dating profile” to try to get them adopted.
    • Past Ways & Means Chair Interviews
      • Start tomorrow.  Want to talk to past chairs to see what they liked, disliked, and what they learned.
      • There is a lineup already for the last couple weeks of February.
    • Scott County Fair
      • July 28th through August 1st.  They are looking for volunteers.
    • JCI Swag Order
      • Asking membership for ideas to put orders to do ASAP.  If you have ideas, let PR know.
    • Why Do You Jaycee
      • Restarting it.  The link will be up next week.
    • Questions for the Board
      • Instead of doing bios, doing questions by the membership.  They can submit the questions for us to answer.

    • Early-bird registration is available until February 28th.  $165 is registration fee currently.
  • Spring All-State convention Bemidji, MN. May 14th-16th 
    • Theme for this year is a carnival.
  • Mid America Institute in Cleveland, OH. August 20th-22nd
    • Go to it!  MN held it 2 years ago.  There is an outing in the area, plus a lot of trainings.
  • Fall All-State New Ulm, MN. September 10th-12th
    • Theme for this year is Harry Potter.
  • Celebration of the Century St.Louis, MO. September 16th-19th
    • It’s the fall National Convention.
