  1. General Business and Reports
  • Management:
    • Bylaw changes
      • Adding a bylaw because of Roberts Rule of order we aren’t able to meet via the web.  We are proposing the change because we can’t meet physically during this time of this pandemic.  We could do a partial virtual meeting.  This would be a permanent bylaw change.
      • Arnold made a motion for us to make a positive recommendation to the general membership, 2nd by Kostelecky.  Motion carries.
    • Trail of Terror
      • Board members met with MidAmerica staff.  We would man all the trailers and get funds for our chapter.  We have enough time to look for a chairperson for this project.
      • Since we’re starting this in April instead of September there is a greater chance that we will have more people to staff the trailers this year.
    • Bags for Bucks
      • MN Renaissance Festival initiative.  Possibility to earn some extra cash and kudos from MidAmerica.  We would have to pick up trash… 10 people per day.  This would give our Junior Jaycees something to do during Fest.
      • Would it be a subcategory in roster?  We would need a lead for this.
      • Do we have the manpower, considering it’s already hard to staff the pubs?  Considering we can get our other connections to help out, we can potentially do this.  If we do this, we would make $500 per day, assuming 10 people per day, and we would receive another $500 at the end of the run.
      • Arnold made a motion for us to make a positive recommendation to the general membership, 2nd by Boler; Motion carries.
  • Membership:
    • They’re working on a Q2 renewal stat.  Alumni get renewed in June.  While doing the renewal they will make sure that the membership mailing addresses will be correct.
  • Community:
    • Adopt-a-highway
      • Still happening in May.
    • Easter egg hunt
      • 1 or 2 people in each category.  Not much, but at least something.
    • Pitch hit run
      • She got an e-mail confirmation that this event has been cancelled.
    • Saints game/fundraiser
      • She got an e-mail confirmation that this event has been cancelled.
  • Individual Development:
    • There are JCI online courses every Saturday, but not on the chapter level.
  • Public Relations:
    • She’s still looking for swag ideas.
    • Good job with the social posting.  We are getting new likes and page likes every day.
  • State Delegate
    • Spring All-State has been moved to June 12th-14th.

9: Presidential Comments

  • Awards submission
    • They are due on the 16th.  If you have any specific people you want to mention then reach out to President Stephanie.
  • GM meeting
    • We have to meet in person to pass any sort of motion.  The plan is to meet at a park in Shakopee (Hubert Park?).  We are going to keep our distance – 10 feet distance.  We will only have 1 thing on the agenda… the bylaw change.  We need 12 active age members to show up.
  • Q1 Review
    • Only 2 people haven’t filled out the Q1 review yet.
    • Pretty much everybody is on the same page… communication between board members is strong and excellent, clear goals/expectations are strong, communication to members is week, communication from the president is strong and excellent, follow through on plans is low but there’s not much we can do during the pandemic.
    • Most of the successes that people are sharing is that we’re glad that we have the board coming together and that we’re working well together.  Lots of little victories.
    • Most of the obstacles are because of COVID-19.  Some need to work on a work/life/Jaycee balance.
    • General feedback — not have anything or positive stuff.
    • We are moving in the right direction 🙂

10: Adjournment @ 8:28pm – Motion made by Beecher, 2nd by Arnold; Motion carries.
