JCI Shakopee BOD Meeting

Call to Order:7:33pm
  1. Call to Order @ 7:33pm.
  2. Special Guests (Bobbie Dullingerloch)
    • She takes part in the ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis aka. Lou Gehrig’s Disease) walk through the ALS Association.  One of her family members passed away from this disease & 14 other family members were diagnosed with the disease too.  She is looking for a $100 donation from us.  Her goal is $800.  She asked other chapters too and they donated some money.
  3. Approval of Previous Minutes – 1st by Duffy; 2nd by Arnold; Motion carries.
  4. Approval of the Consent Agenda – 1st by Kostelecky; 2nd by Weidenhamer; Motion carries.
  5. Approval of the Business Agenda – 1st by Kostelecky; 2nd by Arnold; Motion carries.

  1. General Business and Reports
  • Management:
    • Bylaw change
      • This was sent to us in an e-mail.  The differences from what we’re agreeing on now and what is printed on the e-mail is:
        • Section 2: “ten (10) days prior” to “fourteen (14) days prior.”
        • Section 2: “in writing via the newsletter/email” to “using written or electronic communication.”
        • Section 2: added comma in between “annual elections” and “decide upon.”
        • Section 7: “A nominee must verbally or by written and signed proxy accept the nomination before it becomes effective” to “A nominee must accept the nomination verbally or in written form before it becomes effective.”
        • Section 9: added “The President shall appoint an Election Committee to supervise the election process.”
        • Section 1: “notice of such meeting shall be mailed electronically to each member at his/her last known email address” to “shall be sent via written or electronic communication to each member at their last known address.”
        • Motion to recommend these changes, in this form, to the membership by Kostelecky; 2nd by Duffy.  Motion carries.
    •  Major Ways Updates
      • No more Big Taste of Fun.  That leaves us with the Renaissance Festival and Trail of Terror.  If the Renaissance Festival gets cancelled we might create an “un-parade” and possibly host it in the Scott County Fairgrounds.
  • Membership:
    • Q3 renewals
      • Almost finished with the renewals… only a few people left due to unknown answers to their questions, like “will the Renaissance Festival happen this year?”  He should be wrapped up next week.
    • Alumni renewal wrap-up
      • Most of the alumni have renewed.
    • Zoom Social Aug 17th
      • Game night.  Jackbox games this time (  One person has to own the game and the rest of the people can log in on their devices to play.
  • Community:
    • Bobbie Dullingerloch’s Donation Request
      • M. Duffy made a motion for us to make a positive recommendation to the general membership for the $100 donation ; 2nd by Arnold.  Motion carries.
    • Book drive 
      • We are looking for a location to have a little library.  She reached out to Dante and he said he is willing to chair the project.  No further details are known yet.
  • Public Relations:
    • Swag Update
      • She had her 2nd round survey sent out.  Most people want hoodies.  She is looking for vendors who will give us the best deal.
  • State Delegate
    • National Convention Update
      • Later this month it will be voted on if it will be held virtually this year or not.
    • State Convention Update
      • It’s now virtual.  Just like last convention there will be an in-office party.  This time there might be better thought out challenges made.

  • She congratulated us on being flexible during the pandemic.
