    • Matthew Duffy, Miss NSGRA Candidacy
      • He is running for Miss North Star Gay Rodeo Association.  He has to fundraise a set amount – he chose $1,000 (minimum of $250 to lock in the candidacy).  3-ways:  1) matching donation; 2) ID scholarship, 3) straight donation to the organization.  The donation gives money for the rodeo next year.  The organization is to protect 4-H and other local farm culture and non-profits.  They are 501c3… Wants to approach the chapter for up to $250 to lock in candidacy.  He spent $450 out of pocket already.  He would like a positive recommendation for proposing to the general membership.
      • ID – Lets him get back into drag again.  Wants to do some cross-recruiting.  Candidates age 30-45 (interested, but want to learn more about the Jaycees before they join).  Trying to work with the Diversity Alliance to make a big event in a year or two.
      • $250 will be given to M. Duffy for this candidacy, but he has to report quarterly to us.

  1. General Business and Reports
  • Management:
    • BOD Retreat
      • July 17th (check-in varied) -19th (check-out 11am).  AirBNB has a nice home we can rent on a lake in Melrose, MN; hot tub included.
    • Q2 review in July!
      • Food happening for this review.  Talk about frustrations with each other and with COVID-19, and we talk about good stuff too.  Bring your ideas and your bodies.
    • Major Ways and Means Project Updates
      • Lost 2 of our projects completely (Rock the Garden & Scott County Beer Sales).  Big Taste Of Fun virtual event is happening on June 20.  Big Taste of Fun in-person event happening in September.  D. Kothenbeutel sent out 38 letters to restaurants, 2 responded.  This isn’t going to be a moneymaker.
      • Renaissance Festival is still on supposedly.  Typical roster is 120-130, preferably 170.
      • Trail of Terror — she put out feelers for chairpersons for Trail but has no responses so far.  If need be she will reach out to MidAmerica to find chairs, and she can run the spreadsheets.
    • June/ July GM Meetings
      • Normally the meetings are picnics, but do we want to still have the picnics?  We will keep the park we normally use (Memorial).  We’d need to figure out what we’re going to buy for food.  We have a person who will cook them all.
      • If we don’t do the picnic we would still do a hybrid meeting in the park.
      • For the next three GM meetings we will meet in person/do hybrid.
  • Membership:
    • Membership Closeout
      • It’s going… over half of it is done.
      • Alumni dues… needs to be worked on.
    • Calling tree data
      • Everybody has been fairly appreciative of us calling & even surprised that we called.  A lot of people are excited and worried about Fest and are holding back on signing up for it right now.  People also wanted us to do something about COVID-19… donation drive maybe?
  • Community:
    • Lab Night meeting
      • Focus on something more specific than just a drive… do donations to specific schools to make a lasting partnership.
    • Kids Voting
      • D. Kothenbeutel was asked to help out again this year.  It will be happening in the schools and not the voting stations.  Helping grades 3-12 learn about voting.  Chairs and co-chairs need to be found.
    • Jeans and Gems
      • Virtual event is happening tomorrow.
    • Shakopee Parks and Rec
      • Water Safety Week videos exercise with family drawing.  Need to meet them at the community center to hand out t-shirts (May-June was 200k step challenge).  They have all of our Easter stuff and they’re using that for prizes.
      • They will be doing a Pet Week… next week?  Same as safety week… videos, drawings, thank us a lot
    • Adopt a park
      • We adopted Hugo Park.  We need to clean the park still, but the sign is created.  We need to organize the Adopt-A-Park & need to do this 3 times a year.
  • Individual Development:
    • ALA
      • American Leadership Academy — Presidents only are able to go.  S. Corder was accepted to go.  She needs $50 to do it.  Next week Monday she has a 2-hour intensive meeting every day for a week.  North and South America are part of this.
      • The board is giving her the $50 to do it.
    • Ideas
      • Working on doing the JCI class for us.  Anybody else have any ideas on what they want to do?
  • Public Relations:
    • Facebook posting
      • We’re not consistent.  We need to try to get back on it.
      • Create a chapter TikTok possibly.

        • Host in our office on Saturday.  Do the awards ceremony and other events as well.
      • Party?
        • Friday night and Saturday.  Pajama party until formal hour!
      • Challenge?
        • Place a challenge to the membership for 20+ of them to attend virtual – and prove it – and if they do S. Corder will shave M. Duffy’s head.

10: Adjournment @ 8:40pm – 1st by Kothenbeutel, 2nd by Duffy.  Motion carries.

We believe:

That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;

That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;

That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;

That government should be of laws rather than of men;

That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality; and

That service to humanity is the best work of life.
