JCI Shakopee GM Meeting

  1. General Business and Reports
  • Management:
    • Fest Update
      • Finally got a hold of Bonnie; she told them to contact them back in April.
      • Committee has been selected.  It will be posted this weekend.
      • We have a beer license; M. Duffy is taking care of the paperwork.
      • Pubmasters will be posted in a week or two.
      • No information on camping yet.
    • Big Tasty Update
      • It will be on August 14th.  Venues are 50% capacity, 250 max.  Starting April 1st outside will increase.
    • Scott County Fair Update
      • M. Black has offered to be a mentor or leader to anybody who will chair; she will do it 
    • Bylaws and Policies Committee Meeting March 28th
      • 7:30pm.  If interested, send an application to M. Duffy.
    • Sign-In Sheet Link Enforcement
      • It will be posted on the website.
  • Membership:
    • Zoom Game Night March 24th @ 7pm
      • It was changed from Monday to Wednesday… starting at 7:30pm.
    • Membership Survey Coming Soon!
      • It will be coming out this weekend.  We will be excited to hear from you!
    • April Local History Presentation 
      • Scott County Historical Society has reached out to us.  They want to do a presentation on Scott County and the depression.  It will be at the next GM at 7pm.
  • Community: 
    • Easter Egg Hunt & Candy Grab March 27th
      • If you want to participate as a volunteer, you need to fill out an application for Shakopee Parks and Rec.
      • More people wanted to help… yay 🙂
      • 20 people are needed total.  Still have another 10 days to send interest.
      • We are following statewide COVID guidelines, including masking & gloves will be provided for volunteers who ask.
      • We still have a bunny suit, so it’s available for 5’5” or under for somebody to use.
    • SVA Sip Away for SVA {Southern Valley Alliance} Sponsorship Request
      • It came through our email earlier this week.  They are looking for sponsorship or a donation.
      • 3 levels… Gold ($2,000), Silver ($500), & Bronze ($250).
      • This used to be the Jeans & Gems event, but was renamed to be more in line with online.
      • We have a line item (CD-20), so we will be donating $1,000 to them.
    • Put a CAP on Hunger
      • Something else came through this week.
      • The CAP Agency food shelf is looking for donations.
      • An event will be set for April or May to help with it.
  • Pacer’s Virtual Run Walk Roll Against Bullying 
    • This came through this week.
    • We also have funding for this (CD-17).  We will be writing them a check tonight.
  • Individual Development:
    • April Lab Nite: Time Management
      • It’s fast approaching.  C. Kostelecky will be the trainer.  Make sure you show up on time!!
  • Public Relations:
    • Hockey Hoodies
      • No pricing yet.  Hopefully there will be a post up next week.
    • Member Business Listing Clarification
      • It’s any kind of business, including Colorstreet and other things like that.
  • State Delegate:
    • March 20th Deadline for Spring All State Convention 
      • Deadline is the 20th is the early-bird registration… in Bemidji, MN.
      • If it’s virtual then we will cover the fee.  If it’s in person then you need to write a good faith check and if you do the necessary things then we will cover the fee; otherwise, we will cash the check.
    • Camp Confidence Clean Up April 30-May 2
      • Not many details have been released yet.
    • Local President’s Summit of the Americas Recap
      • It was last week… Wednesday through Sunday.
      • It was put on by JCI America (North and South America).
      • They learned about a lot of cool tools.  There will be a JCI app rolled out soon.  We can have a JCI Shakopee store on there… people can buy our swag on there.
      • They are getting rid of the Active Citizens Framework and replacing it with the JCI Action Framework — essentially the same thing, but more focused on taking action.  There will be trainings coming out soon.

9: Presidential Comments

Thank everybody for being here.

Flaming Flamingo is her symbol… we will be rising out of the ashes of COVID-19.

Get active in the community and the chapter.  Hopefully we will have fun and success this year.
